The 5 Gay Bars In SF For A Fabulous Time 21+

For reference, I identify as a gay man 24/7, a supportive stage mom named Carol (on the weekends), and the "token" queer at any "straight" bar. Most of my friends are straight, and sometimes I wish I was at a gay bar.

I sat at the crowded bar in my black denim jacket, and I connected eyes with the one other gay in this venue. I thought to myself how good and included I felt to see another gay person. Like wow! Gay people exist! Straight bars are fun, but to my queers, not all the time.

I think it's important to venture into different venues because life is about exploring, but also to venture into bars where your community is there a.k.a. surround yourself with other gay people. You can't feel like you're a part of the LGBT community, if you don't put forth the effort. Plus, gay people are just as fun! Duh.

Every bar in San Francisco isn't and shouldn't be exclusively anything, but it happens. Whenever that happens, just keep your chin up and live your best life. There are other bars.
